In a fire incident in Rakovica, an elderly woman lost her life; the fire was caused by a stove set ablaze while the victim was alone at home. Dragan Miković, the Commander of the Fire and Rescue Brigade in Belgrade addressed the issue, stating that the beginning of the heating season had led to a rise in fire incidents. He urged citizens who used solid fuels for heating to check their chimneys. Miković emphasized the importance of inspecting electric installations and connections for those who heat with electricity. He advised against leaving heating devices on when no one is home. In case of a fire, he urged citizens to call the fire department at 193. He stressed the importance of having fire extinguishers at home, which could help save lives.
The data provided also notified about the rise in prices of winter equipment like chains and socks for tires and warned citizens about potential fines of up to 20,000 RSD if they are caught without this necessary equipment.
