Uroš Blažić is accused of having killed nine people and injured 12 in the Serbian villages of Malo Orašje and Dubona last year. His father, Radiša Blažić, is also on trial for a large quantity of weapons and ammunition found in their house after the crime. Radiša’s DNA was found on a pistol thought to be used during the crime, which was found in Uroš’s car. Uroš is alleged to have used the weapon to carry out a massacre in one of the villages. Radiša claims that he had never seen the weapon before. Uroš surprisingly apologized for his prior behavior of not answering the advocates’ questions, which is connected to the fact that he has access to media from the institution where he is held. The journalist covering the trial expressed concern for the potential risk when Uroš is released, as the sentence for someone who committed such a crime could be only 20 years.
